About this work

Though fresh snow piles upon a leafless tree in Thoreau MacDonald’s “The Snow Storm” (1947-1953), there is no rest for the farmhands, one of which stands upon a horse-drawn sled in the distance on a winter errand. Seven of MacDonald’s works were included in the Sampson-Matthews silkscreen art program, the most of any artist other than A.Y. Jackson.
